18/9 Culture night in Västerås

Nya Perspektiv is celebrating 11 years anniversary! Two venues

28/9 Splint! (SE, NO)

Splint! is undoubtedly jazz in the same sense as Arve Henriksen or Supersilent is jazz. They use trumpet, double bass and guitar, but they also inject their sound with samplers, laptops and synthesizers. The music is a texture of old and new - a mix of Miles Davis, Alice Coltrane and abstract electronics. It's still jazz, but with punk attitude and an instinctive feeling for experimentation. Splint music demands your attention!

Gunnar Halle trumpet, electronics

Nils-Olav Johansen guitar, guitar synth, electronics, voice

John Lundberg, double bass, synths, electronics.

12/10 2streck2 (DK, SE)

in cooperation with Uruk (Uruppförandeklubben/world premiere club)

2streck2 is a project in which two well-established improvisation duos from the Swedish and Danish music scene presents acoustic as well as electro-acoustic music in two distinctive and contrasting concerts.

Lotte Anker / Jacob Riis duo

Two of Denmark's most powerful improvisers who has developed both a strong personal approach as well as marking the lead as distiguished musicians and composers. The variables of the duo are endless. A rich and surprising sound-world where everything can stand or fall in the same breath. The duo released their first album release in the autumn of 2009.

Jacob Riis, laptop/processing,

Lotte Anker, saxophone

Lisa Ullén / Nina deHeney duo

The duo creates music that moves into many different directions, big gestures, minimal vibrations or a noisy soundscape. The basis for the duo's music has always been improvisation at the supreme level. In 2009 the duo released their debut album Carve on LJ Records

Nina deHeney, double bass

Lisa Ullén, piano

26/10 Erik Oscarsson quartet (SE)

It is with exitement, we follow Erik in his explorations of improvised music. Now he has gathered a bunch of star musicians for his quartet, all with a long history at New Perspectives. Everyone will contribute with their personal expression to the musical presence and the sum of the parts is jazz in its most honest form of expression.

Erik Oscarsson, piano

David Stackenäs, guitar

Fredrik Ljungkvist, saxophone

Magnus Vikberg, drums

9/11 Jim Denley (AU)

It is a sensation that we got the Australian improvisational master Jim Denley to to Västerås. This whole man is the manifestation of a musical instrument, a sonic chameleon, that produces sounds of the most breathtaking nature. One moment he shoots out hard, cold bitcrush sounds from his flute to suddenly in the the next seduce the audience with seductive whispers. A wild and beautiful concert that should not be missed!

30/11 Jonas Östholm / Emil Strandberg (SE)

Västerås born Jonas Östholm and Emil Strandberg started playing together as a duo in 20032. In that they have worked together for so long has contributed to a significant communication between them and their music is characterized by a quiet intensity and an open, searching improvisation style that travels inside Jonas' compositions (in particular).  Jonas. In 2008 was the release of their acclaimed album Once Around. Both Jonas and Emil have been individually nominated for Swedish Radio's price: the Jazz Cat. They can also be heard together in Jonas Östholm Quartet.

Nya Perspektiv Club - Västerås Culture Evening Event 18/9 2010 | Print |

Download programme here (pdf swe)

It is a great pleasure to present a fully loaded music event in the Västerås dusk and cultural evening. You can find us at two locations this evening: Culturen and the newly opened Museum of Art. The program spans over many fields of genres with both national and local artists. A special focus in the program has been to mix young with established musicians and in the usual spirit of new perspectives some surprises will be served.

I would also like to thank all the musicians with small gage (due to reduced contribution to the New Perspectives in year) have made this evening just for you Västerås. Make them a favour, go to their concerts!
In addition New Perspectives celebreates its 11 year anniversary!
(Why 11? Well last year we forgot about our 10 year anniversary, since we were exhausted from the festival, besides 11 looks better I think)

Welcome to a number of great experiences!
Tomas Nygren - producer

Nutida Musik recenserar Perspectives 2009 | Print |
